The next entry could fully lean into its new time period by allowing players to take control of a Depression-era bank robber like the aforementioned John Dillinger, or it could even take inspiration from the upcoming GTA 6 with a period-accurate Bonnie and Clyde-esque character duo at its forefront. A gang similar to the real-life Dillinger Gang led by John Dillinger, which was accused of robbing 24 banks and four police stations between 19, could be a natural progression from Red Dead Redemption's Van der Linde gang. The Great Depression was known for some of America's most famous bank robbers.
Red Dead Reedemption 3 could truly thrive if it were set during the Great Depression.
